The Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown is set to give its old library space a $65-million facelift.

“As soon as we found out the library was moving for sure, which was 2018, we started a space needs assessment at the centre and we started the process of consultation of what we should do in this space," Bellamy said during an interview inside the empty former library. “We need more of that and we’ve known for a long time that we didn’t have the space or resources to meet the demand," Bellamy said, adding that adding artists-in-residence studios is part of the goal.
The centre put out a request for proposals in 2020 for the design, awarding the tender to Nova Scotia’s Abbott Brown Architects.
