The owner of a heritage barn in Ladysmith that was destroyed in a fire Monday night says he had just moved some baby sheep from the barn a few days before the fire so they could join the herd.
The barn stored supplies and tools, and had a sorting room used for the farm’s blueberry operation. Also lost was feed, feeders, storage equipment and freezer, he said. “This is a tremendous, tragic loss for the family and the entire community,” the online fundraiser says. “Any type of donation/assistance is beyond appreciated.”“We also have neighbours up and down the road, really close neighbours, and people up and down the Island sending us money, or cash to the feed store,” Dault said.
