Several community groups came together at Truro’s Atlantic Superstore on Feb. 9 to promote a multi-faceted approach to health and well-being for seniors in the community. | SaltWire
, and several more organizations that promote health amongst the province’s senior population.
Dietician Jenelle MacIsaac, who works with Atlantic Superstore, spoke of the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle for seniors throughout the province. “I hear a lot from my clients that they don’t know what supports there are in Truro or around Nova Scotia, so just having this to learn what supports they have around Nova Scotia and their community is really important,” explained MacIsaac.
“The whole purpose of project is to keep seniors engaged with the community,” said Mingo. “We look at it from the perspective that seniors are a resource because they have knowledge, experience and stories to share with people. One of the mentors with Mentoring Plus attended the Aging Well Together event, hoping to bring other seniors into the program.
