Join us for a fun night of dancing with live traditional music at the Johnson Community Centre. All are welcome, no experience necessary.
Join us upstairs at the Johnson Community Centre, (1 Cameron Ave, off of Main St, Desbarats - about 40 mins east of Sault Ste. Marie) for a Community Dance, featuring live traditional music, with called contra, square and lined dances, in addition to a few waltzes! The dances will be called by local callers Rodney Martin and Julie Schryer. Music will be provided by Julie Schryer (piano), Pat O’Gorman (flute/whistle/pipes), Zach Schryer-Lefebvre (guitar etc.
), Áine Schyrer-O’Gorman (fiddle), and other local musicians. The dances are beginner-friendly, anyone is welcome with no experience necessary. There will be an introduction to basic dance moves at 7pm, which will progress into the dance. This event is ‘pay what you can’, with a suggested donation of $15/adult or $30/family to help cover costs. Please bring a water bottle, and some comfortable shoes for dancing in. Snacks to share are always welcome too - please label them with ingredients, in case of allergies. We look forward to seeing you
