Pictured above: OTF representative Stephen Linton, Whitby MPP Lorne Coe and Community Care Durham CEO James MelocheCommunity Care Durham is receiving $99,400 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation .“Durham is growing rapidly,” said CEO James Meloche in an interview with Durham Radio News. “Many of them, this is their first time in Canada.

“We have been around for 48 years so it’s not like we’re new, but there are still people who don’t necessarily know what the scope of our services is,” he added. “And they’re quite blown away, actually, with the range of programs that we have.” “The effects of the work is wide-reaching across the region,” said Whitby MPP Lorne Coe. “I have seen it firsthand by being able to deliver food to people in need, here in the Town of Whitby, over the years.”

Community Care Durham helps almost 10,000 clients with a variety of needs relating to age, or physical and mental health. Services include Meals on Wheels, transportation programs, mental fitness programs, and at-home care.To learn more about what they’re offering,The funds come through the OTF’s Resilient Communities Fund, which was set up to help community organizations recover from the pandemic.
