Some of the women who can’t return to work are nurses, and so the two crises have converged where traditional women’s work is undervalued.Early childhood education and nursing are both fields that are dominated by women.
Traditional women’s work is systemically undervalued because it has historically been seen as an extension of women’s unpaid labour in the home, such as raising children and caring for the sick and elderly.
