In this file photo, Nova Scotia Power crews work on restoring electricity to customers around the CBRM after hurricane force post-tropical storm Fiona left most of the municipality without power. IAN NATHANSON/CAPE BRETON POSTPost-tropical storm Fiona’s arrival in September was a wakeup call for all the Maritime provinces and, in particular, for eastern Cape Breton.
I live in the Marion Bridge area and while we sat in the cold and dark, more often than not our neighbours across the highway and across the Mira River from us had heat and lights. I must admit I am afraid for what the coming winter will bring for the first time in my memory. Actions by this company and statements by their CEOs have shown that NSP has taken a hiatus from the truth and they appear unwilling to live up to the responsibility of providing a reliable power grid for Nova Scotians, a responsibility entrusted to them by a prior Nova Scotia government. It appears we need a changing of the guard when it comes to delivering power to Nova Scotians.Post-tropical storm Fiona has given Nova Scotia Power the perfect excuse for the next several years.
