The chairman of the House Oversight Committee said Wednesday that Hunter Biden’s plea deal falling apart and "not guilty" plea will not deter further investigations, even amid confusion over what's next for President Joe Biden's son.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said he “had been saying for months” that the judge presiding over the case should reject Hunter Biden’s plea deal, and he’s “not surprised” that she has.In a separate statement, he said the judge in this case “did the right thing by refusing to rubberstamp Hunter Biden’s sweetheart plea deal.”
“The evidence uncovered by the Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Bidens’ influence peddling schemes mirrors the evidence put forth by the IRS whistleblowers,” Comer said in the statement. “We will continue to follow the Bidens’ money trail to determine whether foreign actors targeted the Bidens, President Biden is compromised, and our national security is threatened.
He emphasized that his investigation is not into Hunter Biden or the “cover-up” by the Department of Justice by interfering in his criminal investigation. He said his investigation is into the president.
