Roman had a show called 'Catskills on Broadway.'
The stand-up comedian was born Fred Martin Kirschenbaum in Newark but came of age in Jamaica, Queens.
Roman got his start as an emcee in the Catskills when he was just 15, at Crystal Spring Hotel, an establishment owned by his grandfather and uncle.gave Roman’s act a thumbs up and gave him a boost when she made him her opening act, booking the comic his first stage in Las Vegas. In the late ’80s, Roman — who lived in New Jersey, New York and Florida over the years — had a variety show residency at Trump Castle in Atlantic City.
