A Columbus man convicted of murdering one and attempting to murder another in a 2020 shooting at a Far East Side pub is facing life in prison.

Mapp then calmly walked back through the pub and out the front door, witnesses told authorities at the time.

Hardy died from a gunshot wound to the head. First responders rushed Barton, who had sustained a gunshot wound in the torso, to nearby Mount Carmel East hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery and survived. Evidence presented during the trial, including surveillance video from the pub, showed Mapp and Hardy had known one another and had been in some kind of dispute. Barton said at Mapp's sentencing hearing that she couldn't eat for eight months and required multiple surgeries, including organ transplants.

“I had so many surgeries, but I came out of each and every single one of them, and I will continue to have that strength and continue to take back over my life, which he tried to take from me," Barton said. McIntosh sentenced Mapp to 30 years to life on the aggravated murder charge plus three years for a firearms specification; 11 years on the attempted murder charge plus three years for a firearms specification; and three years on a charge of having a weapon under disability. McIntosh imposed the sentences consecutively for a total of 50 years to life.
