On Saturday, 33 Harvard student groups tried to sound woke and cooly by blaming Israel for Hamas terrorists invading the country.students. I could be sitting in class with these students, watching children brutally murdered, raped, kidnapped and their mutated bodies torn apart by a jeering crowd – and hear why it’s justified.Today’s events did not occur in a vacuum. For the last two decades, millions of Palestinians in Gaza have been forced to live in an open-air prison.
Today, the Palestinian ordeal enters into uncharted territory. The coming days will require a firm stand against colonial retaliation. We call on the Harvard community to take action to stop the ongoing annihilation of Palestinians. The group hosted Mohammed El-Kurd, a Muslim poet the ADL has accused of being anti-Semitic. The ADL pointed to a line in one of his poems that reflects the antisemitic trope “blood libel.
The statement did not mention Hamas’s role in the attack, which left over 900 Israelis dead, or note that the Iranian-backed group had targeted civilians, some of whom were gang-raped.
