The Awards of Excellence were presented to Spencer Wood, Humber Polytechnic's director of facilities management, and Samara Ocansey, a fourth-year student in Humber Polytechnic's bachelor of engineering – sustainable building engineering program. Ocansey was recognized for academic excellence, peer leadership, and inclusive mentorship. She is also the founder of Humber Polytechnic's Women in Engineering Club and a peer tutor with the Black Student Support and Engagement Centre.
