Ontario’s medical regulator is limiting public access to its Toronto headquarters over an “increased number of serious threats,” according to a brief news release Monday.
As part of its duty to regulate the medical profession, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario sets practice standards for doctors and investigates them for potential misconduct.
“Due to an increased number of serious threats and concern for the safety of college staff and council members, CPSO has made the difficult decision to limit public access to our building, including our quarterly council meetings,” said a statement Monday.“Keeping our staff and members of council safe is a priority,” said the statement.
