A cold front will bring a chance of thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening.

Storm clouds move over downtown Dallas as trains and traffic move along Interstate 35E on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Much of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex experienced heavy rain and strong winds after being placed under several storm warnings throughout the evening.Warm and muggy weather will continue tonight through Thursday. Temperatures tonight will be well above normal in the upper 60s to near 70. Thursday highs will be in the 80s to near 90.

A cold front will move across North Texas Thursday afternoon and evening. The front will likely set off a few thunderstorms during that time. Some storms may become severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts. Storm coverage will be rather scattered so not everyone will get a storm.The cold front will also usher in cooler weather for Friday through the weekend. Friday will be dry with highs in the 70s. The weekend will be even cooler with highs in the 60s.

Will San Antonio Have Another Strong Cold Front This Year?As winter transitions to spring, temperatures have started to increase here in South Texas. Since Feb. 22, San Antonio has recorded 11 days with high temperatures of at least 80 degrees. That being said, a lot of us are not ready to say goodbye to the cold weather. Unfortunately for cold weather fans, strong cold fronts become less common in the spring, as opposed to mid-winter. Which brings up the question: Will San Antonio have another strong cold front this year? Or is the cold weather already done? To find the answer, let’s take a look back at history. Here’s what we found We looked through San Antonio temperature data from the past 30 years and focused on April and May. We found every instance where high temperatures dropped at least 15 degrees from one day to the next. If it did, we considered that to be a strong cold front. In the past 30 years, strong cold fronts have actually occurred in April quite often. In fact, April has had at least one strong cold front 60% of the time.
