Climate change has become a central issue in Ottawa's mayoral election, sharpened by the promise of strong-mayor powers. “I think the environment will have an overarching effect on the outcome of the election,” front-runner Catherine McKenney says.
Ottawa city councillor Catherine McKenney, left, is a frontrunner in the race for mayor of Ottawa.
When the people of Ottawa decide who will replace Mayor Jim Watson on Oct. 24, candidate Catherine McKenney expects the environment will factor into the result.“We need a greener city. That means a much better tree canopy, more parks for kids and more green space. It also means more affordable transit so people can switch their mode of transportation.”
