Brewers manager Craig Counsell's contract runs out at the end of October.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Guardians have reportedly asked permission from the Milwaukee Brewers to talk to Craig Counsell about replacing Terry Francona as manager. The Guadians, as is their policy, would not confirm or deny the report.
There is a chance Counsell, a Wisconsin native, could stay with the Brewers. They have made it known that they want to keep him. Under Counsell, the Brewers won the NL Central, but were upset in the wild card round by World Series finalist Arizona. They have made the postseason five times since Counsell replaced Ron Roenicki as manager during the 2015 season.
