Clean North's Christmas tree recycling program has helped keep thousands of trees out of the Sault Ste. Marie landfill for more than 20 years
Clean North volunteers remind Sault Ste. Marie residents that Saturday is the final day to drop off Christmas trees at the organization's collection depot in the Cambrian Mall parking lot.
Also being collected are clean towels and blankets for the Humane Society, and used books, magazines, CDs and DVDs for the Friends of the Library. Clean North volunteers will be on-site daily in the afternoon to assist, but material can be dropped off at any time during the day.Tree chipping will quickly take place very early in the morning on Jan. 15. Mulch should be available, free by donation, at 9 a.m. Anyone wanting mulch should bring their own containers, which Clean North volunteers can help fill and load.
