A Los Angeles designer put a 'youthful spin' on a home office by mixing classic design with modern accents
The office blends the husband’s traditional taste with his wife’s interest in contemporary art.Even before the pandemic made home offices a priority, this newly built, 12,000-square-foot house in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles included a dedicated work-from-home space. The homeowners, who were in their 30s and parents to a toddler and baby when the project started three years ago, wanted to blend his more traditional aesthetic with her interest in contemporary art and design.
“We put a youthful spin on the study by putting in a contemporary rug and playing with modern artwork,” says designer Kara Smith, founder of KES Studio in L.A. “We wanted it to feel young and unexpected.”
