This week news broke of more quiet favors and payments to Clarence Thomas and his wife Ginni.
Two new accusations from two different publications, both published Thursday, center around money and gifts Thomas and his family received from outside interests.
That's in addition to the undisclosed private jet flights, international vacations and luxury yacht excursions Thomas accepted from Crow for years – revealed in a previous ProPublica report. The continuous drumbeat of controversy surrounding Thomas and his finances has lawmakers on both sides of the aisle voicing their concerns and calling for stricter ethics rules for Supreme Court justices.
Last week, Chief Justice John Roberts and the eight other justices released a"Statement on Ethics Principles and Practices." But critics say it doesn't go far enough. But Republicans are pushing back, saying the high court should take steps toward more transparency of its own accord.A number of Democratic lawmakers have already called on him to resign.
