The money is part of the city's ongoing Victoria Music Strategy.
The City of Victoria has announced $150,000 in new arts and culture funding as part of its ongoing Victoria Music Strategy.
The one-time investment by the city is designed to address gaps in the music ecosystem, primarily in areas related to music production and rehearsal and performance spaces. Funding of up to $10,000 per project is available for non-profit organizations and artists working with those organizations. The program runs May 31 through Nov. 30, or until all funds are allocated.
“After the past few years of unprecedented challenges for the music industry, this funding will support the creation of new music, new recordings and new programming that we will all love,” Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto said in a statement. Free information sessions about the investment are scheduled for May 18 and May 25 . To register, visit victoria.ca/musicstrategy.
