Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday will be a federal holiday to mourn Queen Elizabeth
Monday will be a holiday for federal government employees and federally-regulated industries, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday, The Canadian Press reported.
He says the government will be working with provinces and territories to ensure they're "aligned,” The Canadian Press reported. Speaking at a caucus retreat in New Brunswick on Tuesday, Trudeau said "declaring an opportunity for Canadians to mourn on Monday is going to be important." In an email, a spokesperson for the City of Prince George said that unless the provincial government also declares Monday a holiday, it will be “business as usual” at civic facilities. City council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Monday.
In an email, a spokesperson for UNBC confirmed Monday will be a non-instructional day, following a statement issued by Premier John Horgan on Tuesday afternoon.
