The city of Pasadena's Christmas tree lighting ceremony is a community tradition that goes back decades.In a holiday tradition that goes back decades, the city of Pasadena’s Christmas tree will illuminate the night come Dec. 2.

The festivities will get underway at 6 p.m., when vendors and food trucks open for business. A tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m.“It started out as a very short event in front of the old City Hall and has grown into an evening of entertainment and fun for the entire family,” said Pasadena parks director Jed Aplaca.The 30-foot-tall tree will have a new home this year, standing in front of Pasadena’s new Pasadena Municipal Courthouse, 1114 Davis.

“ Christmas tree lighting features Santa and Mrs. Claus leading the countdown and flipping the switch to light up our tree,” Aplaca said. “After the lights go on, Santa and Mrs. Claus will head over to his sleigh, where families will be able to take their own pictures and children can share their Christmas wishes.”The city of Pasadena's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and festivities.
