The City of Mount Pearl has reached a tentative deal with CUPE Local 2099, representing striking city municipal workers. Keith Gosse/The Telegram - Keith GosseMOUNT PEARL, N.L. — The City of Mount Pearl has reached a tentative deal with the union representing striking municipal workers.

Details of the contract will not be made available until it has been presented to union members and both sides have ratified the agreement. Workers who have been on strike since July 7 will vote on the tentative agreement this coming week, CUPE Local 2099 said. “I’d like to thank the bargaining committee who worked extremely hard on behalf of our members,” said Ken Turner, CUPE 2099 president.CUPE Local 2099 represents about 220 municipal workers who work in recreation services, garbage collection, administration, taxation and finance, road maintenance, water and sewage, facilities and landscape maintenance, engineering, planning and other areas.
