New parkade next to Cancer Centre leads way at nearly $50 million
The parkade now under construction next to B.C. Cancer Centre for the North made up most of the total at $49.9 million.
Take away that project, and the sum stands at $6.7 million, about on level with the $6.5 million during the same month last year. Including the permit for the parkade, 26 were issued, the same as in April 2023.Year-to-date, the total now stands at nearly $98.5 million spread over 130 permits, compared to $53.1 million over 87 permits by the same point last year and $88.2 million over 138 permits by the end of April 2022.
Planning and development director Deanna Wasnik acknowledged the impact the parkade has had on the figure. "However, I think it's important to note that permits seem to be consistent if not more on the uprise from last year with respect to all categories, including commercial, institutional, industrial, multi-family and single-family dwellings," Wasnik said.
