Councillors are expected to consider Wednesday another motion establishing a maximum limit of three containers of garbage every two weeks.
He said other details in the motion would be discussed at council Wednesday.
Waste and recycling containers were in the centre of city council chambers for a meeting of the Environment and Climate Change committee on June 5.Public Works General Manager Alain Gonthier said in a memo that extending the life of the dump would be crucial as developing a new dump or implementing other waste management technology could cost taxpayers between $300 million and $450 million and could take 15 years to be fully operational.
“This has been a challenging process with a lot of strong feelings expressed, but that’s the nature of municipal government and I’m hopeful that this proposal strikes the right balance,” Sutcliffe said on Twitter Monday.
