City arenas need $2.8M in urgent and pre-emptive work City administrators are urging city council to allow them to proceed with $2.8 million in urgent and pre-emptive maintenance work at five of the municipality's arenas. “Deferred investment in building roofs, shells, and refrigeration plant equipment would result in service level interruptions,” city Leisure Services director Jeff Pafford wrote in a report to the community and emergency services committee of city council.
10 by Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce, who said the new money will support hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education experiences for Northern Ontario students. “Preparing Ontario’s young people for the careers of the future is a key priority for our government, which is why we have updated the curriculum over the past five years to put a much stronger emphasis on STEM learning in our classrooms,” said Lecce, during his Sudbury visit.

City of Greater Sudbury Maintains Vale Property for FreeThe City of Greater Sudbury has been maintaining Vale property in Levack without charge. However, Vale has shown a lack of investment in the community despite profiting from its resources. When requesting permission to use the Levack lawns for a Canada Day event, the city discovered that most of the greenspace in downtown Levack belongs to Vale.
