“Some people say our competition is a little weaker out in Ontario. But we know what we have in the dressing room and we just try to prove people wrong.”That they certainly belong in the heralded tourney for 18-and-under talents.
“Just over the years, we’ve heard it’s one of the best U18 tournaments almost in North America,” Corbett said. “You’ve got teams from Europe and the United States and all across Canada, so to get invited to this tournament, it’s just a huge testament with what we’re trying to do with the program. “Every game here is a new experience for us,” Corbett said. “Because we haven’t played any of these teams.”
“I love playing the prep schools,” continued Corbett. “Sometimes, I think they undermine the rep hockey, saying they have more to offer and they’re on the ice more. But I feel us coming out here, we’ve shown that we can play with those schools. We want to show that our hockey is just as good — just in a different way. This tournament has really showcased that.”Article content
And it’s the return of reigning champion South Alberta Hockey Academy joining them, along with fellow sports school side Shawnigan Lake, of Vancouver Island.
