Cineplex announced that its box office revenue for December was higher than the previous year. This increase was attributed to the continued success of movies released in November, including Wicked and Moana 2. The company reported a total box office revenue of $64.8 million for December , up from $51.8 million in December 2023. \Cineplex stated that Wicked has become the highest-grossing movie ever based on a Broadway musical.
They also noted that Moana 2 is now among the top 10 highest-grossing animated films domestically, outperforming the original. \According to Cineplex, their combined box office and concession revenue reached $112.0 million in December, representing 129% of the total revenue seen in December 2023
