Campolindo boys hope to duplicate last year’s No. 13 seed in D-I. Moreau, Bellarmine boys meet again in NorCals.
Oakland Tech coach Leroy Hurt had only one request for the state seeding committee after winning the Oakland Section championship:After years of dominating lower divisions, Tech was awarded the No. 2 seed in the 16-team Division I bracket. The Bulldogs will play host to No. 15 seed McClatchy-Sacramento on Tuesday.
“We are more than prepared to play against those teams at that level,” said Hurt, adding that his girls will scrimmage with the section champion Tech boys team to prepare for the playoffs. “We’ve been waiting all four years to make it,” senior Sophia Askew-Goncalves said. “They’re gonna see some kids who really know how to ball, and some aggressive players they’ve never seen before.”As Campolindo nearly made its way to the Open Division state championship game last season, falling in a regional final, a No. 13 seed in Division I became one of the stories of the playoffs.
