Jon and Roy’s Holiday Special hits the Royal Theatre tonight
Jon and Roy’s Holiday Special has grown into one of the city’s top events, seasonal-themed or otherwise, which is why tickets are quickly disappearing for the multi-band bill set for the Royal Theatre on Saturday.
Now in its 16th year, the Broadway-style musical revue mixes dance and music with a fondness for staple songs of the season. Everything from rock ‘n roll to jazz is featured in the program, and will be interwoven with readings and stories. Van Morrison, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift and Bing Crosby are among the artists whose music will make an appearance, according to organizers.
Seats are no longer available for Messiah by Candlelight on Friday and Sunday at Christ Church Cathedral. This should send music fans scurrying for tickets — while they are available — to the symphony’s other event, which is set for Wednesday at Dogwood Auditorium at Royal Roads University. The concerts are close to capacity, and will be sold-out come showtime, so visit visit rmts.bc.ca promptly if you plan to attend.
