Chris Rock has had enough of award shows.
at the Oscars, Rock revealed that he declined the Academy’s invitation to host next year’s Oscar ceremony.Rock discussed turning down the high-profile gig during a comedy set at the Arizona Financial Theatre in downtown Phoenix. The sold-out crowd urged Rock to discuss the infamous Oscar slap, with one fan reportedly screaming, “talk about it,” while Rock was onstage.
Rock reportedly joked that hosting the Oscars would be like returning to the scene of a crime. During the bit, Rock also referenced the infamoustrial, joking that hosting the Oscars for him would be akin to Simpson asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant.”said the Academy did not respond when asked to confirm that Rock was asked to host the 2023 Oscars ceremony.
Rock has hosted the Oscars twice previously, in 2005 and 2016. Deadline reported in June that Rock was also asked to host the 2022 Primetime Emmys, but
