An army helicopter had been moved to the area for a rescue operation after attempts at fixing the fault had been unsuccessful, authority says.

Seven students and one teacher are trapped in a cable car dangling 900 feet above a ravine inafter a line snapped, with an “extremely risky” helicopter rescue mission being hampered by high winds, officials said on Tuesday.

The gondola became stranded half way across a ravine and was dangling by a single cable after the other snapped, Shariq Riaz Khattak a rescue official at the site told Reuters. He added that the other students aboard were aged between 10 to 15 years and that one 15-year-old had fainted due to anxiety.
