An armed man was critically injured in a Chicago police shooting in the North Lawndale neighborhood Monday near 21st and St. Louis, officials said.
Officers were traveling in an unmarked squad car in the 2100 block of South St. Louis at about 11:35 a.m. when they saw a group of people near a double-parked and tried to stop them to investigate, police said.
Officials at nearby Crown Community Academy of Fine Arts said in a letter to parents that all children and staff were brought inside the school after administrators reported hearing shots fired in the area.
