William Boutilier purchased and validated his winning ticket at the Q Mart on 100 Avenue in Fort St. John.

William Boutilier wanted to be ‘extra’ sure he won the lottery and even double checked his ticket with the retailer after winning a $500,000 Extra prize from the Nov. 18 Lotto Max draw.

“A coworker mentioned someone may not show up at work because someone won in Fort St. John,” said Boutilier. “That’s when I checked my ticket I found out I won!” The Charlie Lake resident was most excited to share the news with his wife, who didn’t believe him at first. Apart from celebrating with his family, Boutilier plans to save some of his winnings for his sons. On how it feels to win?

“I am speechless and overwhelmed. This win makes life financially less stressful and will set my boys up for the future.” So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $41 million in winnings from the Extra and more than $165 million from Lotto Max.
