The details of a Boxing Day multi-vehicle collision in south Calgary that took the life of a child are coming into focus as charges are laid. A screenshot from a Calgary transportation camera appears to have caught the arrest of a driver who police say ran a red light at the intersection of Southland Dr. and Macleod Trail S. The incident happened Thursday morning and sent four people to hospital where a nine-year-old child died later in the day.

According to Zara Wishloff who started a GoFundMe campaign, the woman on the right is Amanda Reitmeier with her two daughters. Victoria, 9, centre-right, died Thursday afternoon after a driver went through a red light at Southland Drive and Macleod Tr. S., earlier in the day. Police said the Vibe struck a 2023 Ford Explorer as a result of the initial impact. The Explorer then struck a fifth vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. 'We share the deep sadness felt by the family and loved ones who have had their lives forever changed by someone's disregard for public safety,' Acting Insp. Andy Woodward said in a Friday statement.
