There may yet be a surprise result the rest of the way, but the chances are whomever leaves the Etihad in first place on Sunday will remain there for the rest of the season. Typically you might expect a draw, but both managers will be desperate for all three points and at some point in the match you can expect a turning of the screw, which in turn could leave either vulnerable on the counter. An unlucky bounce, a controversial refereeing decision , a moment of fortune or madness could facilitate the deciding blow in this title race.
But also keep in mind, the pair meet next weekend again at Wembley in an FA Cup semifinal and both appear poised to move on to the Champions League semifinals after winning the first leg of their quarterfinals and there is every possibility the teams will collide yet again in the Champions League final in May in Paris. What a rivalry, what a season and what a game this could turn out to be.
They sit three points back of Spurs and Arsenal for the last spot.
