Channing Tatum “wasn’t sure what to do with a little strong little girl” when he first became a single father.
Tatum recognises that it can be a challenge for any parent to stay engaged in playtime after a full day's work, though he says Everly isn't afraid to call him out if he isn't giving 100 percent. “She knows when I’m not being really creative because I’ve given her too much too early,” he says. “And I tried too hard too early, and she’s just like, ‘Dad, you’re phoning it in,’ or she’s like, ‘Come on, play for real,’ when she knows I’m phoning it in and I’m just tired.
During the interview, Tatum also opened up about what he's hoping to teach his daughter. “I do a lot of things. I draw, I sculpt, I write, I dance, I act. And Evie does all those things and more,” he said. “But the one skill I really want to teach her is more about finding the reason to do anything. I hope she learns from me this thirst to be alive in every single moment so she can live freely and find the thing in every moment.
