From household staples to host gifts to future heirlooms: ceramics are always sweet.
It’s no secret that ceramics have gone the way of hype. As online acolytes compete over sellouts—at the speed of a new Nike drop—from small-batch artists like Suzanne Sullivan, Seth Rogen is pivoting to pottery and Jonathan Adler is dedicating a floor of his new NYC flagship to an aquarium-esque sculpting studio so that visitors might view where the real magic happens. Call it crockery, call it earthenware, ceramics are always sweet.

It’s a “daunting legacy” for the latter, given that the work, like this gilded pitcher, will ultimately outlast her.
