The city of Celina’s population is projected to eventually be close to the current size of Arlington.
Purefoy remembers the Sears executive warning him that he would get some complaints about traffic. But that was still years away from being a concern. Frisco is expected to continue its exponential growth to about 326,000 residents by 2034. City leaders such as Purefoy took a careful approach to planning over the years, focusing on keeping land available for key commercial space where people can work and shop without having to go to other cities.
“We’re really proactive,” Laumer said. “I think we’ve planned the whole city as fast as possible in the last five years.”
