Mitchell is averaging a career-high 27.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists while shooting a career-best 47.7% from the field and 37.9% from 3-point range this season.
The franchise centerpiece has sped up an already bright rebuild of the Cavs with his arrival in the offseason. Following Cleveland’s win over Houston on Sunday -- Mitchell reflected on his whirlwind NBA career thus far. “I think, for me, I learned at a very early time in my career - and I’m very appreciative of everybody in that organization that has helped me along the way - of understanding winning plays and how to impact winning,” Mitchell said. “I genuinely say this all the time, my first year in the league I didn’t expect to be here. I didn’t expect to be this player in this position. I have always had belief in myself, but to be here and to be who I was so fast was not on my little to do list.
