Despite an all-around performance from Alperen Sengun, who had 14 points with seven assists and six rebounds, the Rockets gave up a season-high 40 points off of 22 turnovers. The Cavs’ 74 first-half points were the second-most the Rockets have allowed in a half this season, topped only by 75 scored by the Pelicans earlier this month. Meanwhile, the Rockets’ 48 points were just two more than their season low for a first half.
As a result, the Rockets ran their offense by committee. Second-year guard Josh Christopher got his first start of the season, but guards TyTy Washington Jr., Daishen Nix and Green also took turns at the point. Christopher and Green combined for just 13 points, five turnovers and three assists, all Green’s. Washington and Nix combined for six assists and five turnovers.
