The cause of death in both cases is unknown.
According to the SAPD, officers received a call Saturday to make a welfare check on a 71-year-old man, after reports that he had not been seen for days. When officers arrived at the 100 block of Furnish Avenue, the next of kin met them at the door and officers searched the house to find the 71-year-old dead in one of the rooms. As officers checked the remainder of the property, they found a second dead person, a man whose age or relation to the deceased have yet to be positively identified, along the fence line near the garage.
According to witness reports, the 71-year-old has a son who is homeless and stays at this house occasionally but sleeps outside. Officers were unable to determine the identity of the second deceased man Sunday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
