Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Gary Anandasangaree has 12 staff on board in his new ministerial office, including Sherry Smith, who’s been promoted to director of policy. Anandasangaree was one of seven new additions to cabinet sworn in on July 26, replacing now-Immigration Minister Marc Miller in the Crown-Indigenous relations portfolio. As previously reported, Shaili Patel is chief of staff to Anandasangaree.

Kurusamy was campaign manager for Anandasangaree’s successful 2015 election campaign, which saw the now-minister elected to sit in the House of Commons for the first time. Kurusamy was subsequently hired as executive assistant to the then-new MP, working there until 2018, when he landed his first ministerial gig as a special assistant for operations to then-innovation minister Navdeep Bains.
