On Friday, Pajamas for Seniors will raise money so elderly will have more than just a hospital gown to wear when admitted to a nursing home.
Jo Alch, founder of Pajamas for Seniors, a nonprofit that provides new pajamas to residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities, receives a donation from Cheryl Beaver during a drive-thru Christmas Drive in which donors drop off pajamas or monetary donations in the parking lot of The Reserve at North Dallas.Don your favorite PJs, grab some cash and try your luck at the tables at Casino Nite-Nite, afundraiser that runs from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
“We believe that ALL seniors deserve to be loved and recognized as valuable contributors to our society. They have helped raise us. They have been our teachers, our neighbors and our cherished family members,” Pajamas for Seniors, a nonprofit, says on itsThe mission of the 5013, which serves the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Arkansas, is “to return that love and kindness one pajama at a time.”
“Something as simple as a warm pair of pajamas can make a world of difference. The majority of nursing home residents arrive wearing only a hospital gown. The truth is many seniors do not have resources for new sleepwear,” according to an. “We believe that providing a new set of pajamas represents love, dignity, warmth and comfort. Help us bring smiles to our most vulnerable seniors.”
Jo Alch, founder and executive director of Pajamas for Seniors, said as a seasoned hospice and home care nurse, she saw first-hand patients being admitted to nursing homes with only one possession, “an old threadbare hospital gown.”“We need the help from the community,” he said. “Casino Nite-Nite offers a way to have fun and give to this worthwhile organization. ”.
