Carla Gugino discusses her experiences with sexist directors and the resulting PTSD during her Hollywood career. She shares instances where her ideas were dismissed by male directors, only to be praised when suggested by a male co-star.

Carla Gugino is opening up about suffering from “a little PTSD ” after having her ideas blown off by sexist directors on set during her lengthy Hollywood career.

“I had an instance recently where I needed to assert something important to me and I hesitated because I wondered if it would be perceived as demanding,” Gugino said. “The difference at this age is that I will just push myself to do it. Ultimately, it was received positively.”Echoing Gugino’s toxic experiences, Headey said she also used to watch her needs get bulldozed on set until her mindset shifted following a life-changing conversation with Italian actor Monica Bellucci.
