Philadelphia police say a 60-year-old man shot a 16-year-old who he claims pointed a gun at him demanding the keys to his car.
PHILADELPHIA — A wild carjacking shooting in West Mount Airy ended with more than a dozen bullets fired and a 16-year-old suspect in the hospital Thursday night. The gun battle happened on the 6500 block of Cherokee Street.
According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, a 60-year-old man was getting out of his car when he was approached by two teens. The 16-year-old threatened him with a gun and demanded the keys to his car. “We know the shootout consisted of 17 shots, because we found 17 spent shell casings,” Chief Inspector Small said, adding, “We know that some of those spent shell casings are from the 60-year-old victims gun and some of the shell casings are from the male who was committing the carjacking who got shot.”
