The AZCardinals have signed former Wpg_BlueBombers quarterback Chris Streveler a day after he was released by the CFL club to pursue NFL opportunities.
Streveler, 25, was scheduled to become a free agent on Feb. 11. He agreed to a futures deal with the Cardinals.
Streveler spent the last two seasons with the Blue Bombers, rumbling for 39 yards and a touchdown in the 107th Grey Cup as Winnipeg captured its first title since 1990 over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last fall. Over the course of the 2019 campaign, the native of Crystal Lake, Ill., ran for 726 yards and scored 12 touchdowns in 17 games while throwing eight TD passes.
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury has a connection with the Blue Bombers, dating back to the 2007 season when he served as the team’s third-string quarterback.
