As seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, vibranium has become a significant point of geopolitical tension in the current MCU. While this helps explain the fate of Riri Williams' armor at the end of the movie, it creates confusion as it relates to Sam Wilson's new threads.
As seen in 2021's Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson received a brand-new costume and set of wings which he wore in the show's final episode. Made in Wakanda, the ensemble is at least partly made from vibranium, if not all of it. Combined with the iconic vibranium shield he inherited from Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson has committed to protecting the American people while wearing and wielding a highly coveted and very rare resource.
Keeping that in mind, it is strange that Sam Wilson has been allowed to keep his new vibranium suit and wings in the current era, not to mention his shield. Although the events of Falcon and the Winter Solider take place a couple of years before Wakanda Forever, it's still odd with Riri's armor being kept in Wakanda.
Vibranium Will Be Even More Important To The MCU After Wakanda Forever With other nations ramping up their attempts to claim stores of vibranium for themselves, it follows that the powerful resource will become an even bigger deal with future MCU installments, potentially leading to a full-on war over the valuable vibranium. Case in point, set photos for Captain America: Brave New World have seen Wilson wearing a newer costume that's more blue.
