The CEO of CapMetro apologized to its rail customers after hundreds of people experienced delays at their newly opened McKalla Rail Station following Saturday's Austin FC home opener.

Dottie Watkins posted her apology on X saying that they are "committed to getting this right" and "will do better" in the future. We’re going to try this again, but first— on behalf of all CapMetro, I want to apologize to our rail customers whose experience was impacted by last night's service. We are committed to getting this right and we will do better. Yesterday we debuted our new McKalla Rail Station just steps away from Q2 Stadium. Customers, fans and all our staff were excited to experience the new station. We encouraged customers to use our rail service, and they did.

In the spirit of apologizing, CapMetro is offering free rides to all customers on the Red Line on March 9th, which coincides with the opening day of South by Southwest and another Austin FC home game. Watkins says that CapMetro moved over 4,000 people on the Red Line Saturday night, which is nearly double the passenger count of previous Austin FC matches.
