Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha is out indefinitely after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The 27-year-old appeared to injure himself after colliding with teammate John Carlson. Mantha left the game in the second period and was not on the bench for the third. Washington placed the forward on injured reserve Friday joining Nicklas Backstrom and TJ Oshie, who are also sidelined. In 10 games this season, Mantha has two goals and six points.
Mantha was acquired by the Capitals at the trade deadline from the Detroit Red Wings last season in exchange for Jakub Vrana, Richard Panik, a 2021 first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick.
